Samsung’s One UI 7 is slated to bring a lot of visual and under-the-hood changes. While the tech giant hasn’t shared many details of how the Android 15-based skin will look like, a ton of information including design changes and new app icons has already found its way on the internet.

Apart from the new and improved features, Samsung is also making some changes that may affect how you use your phone. On its UK website, the company said that Samsung DeX, the feature that allowed users to connect their Galaxy device to a Windows PC to get a desktop-like experience is soon going away.

In the footnotes of the page, the company noted that the DeX app on Windows will end support from One UI 7 version”. This means that Windows users will no longer be able to use the application, but DeX will still continue to exist.

Also, if you use a Samsung tablet, rest assured that the DeX mode will remain unaffected. Introduced in 2017, Samsung DeX lets users connect their phones in wired and wireless modes and offers a desktop-like experience on PCs and TVs.

Instead of the DeX app, Samsung is encouraging users to make the switch to the Link to Windows feature. Microsoft’s solution may not be as intuitive as DeXx, but instead of being limited to phones from the South Korean manufacturer, the app works across all modern Android devices and is more optimised than Samsung’s clumsy solution.

For those wondering, this isn’t the only thing that’s going away. Samsung also said that starting with One UI 7, users won’t be able to download Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store.
