OnePlus has previously announced that the OnePlus 12 will be launched in China on December 4 but pushed the date to December 5 for reasons unknown. Now, the company has confirmed a couple of key hardware specifications of its upcoming flagship phone.
According to a recent post on the Chinese social media Weibo by OnePlus China president Li Jie, the OnePlus 12 will bring back wireless charging, a feature that the company removed from the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus 11R. While there is no information about the charging speed, rumour has it that the device can charge at 50W wirelessly.
The post also revealed some other key specs of the phone such as a built-in IR blaster and a new ‘Rain Water Touch’ feature that might help with touch issues during rain. OnePlus has already confirmed some other hardware specifications like a superbright 2,600 nits 2K AMOLED screen developed in partnership with BOE. Rumour also has it that the upcoming phone will offer improved PWM dimming.
OnePlus 12 will carry its predecessor’s design language with some minor changes to the camera island. The device will pack a 48MP Sony Lytia 808 primary sensor, which is the same sensor that made its debut on the OnePlus Open. It will be joined by an ultrawide sensor and a periscope lens.
A recent report by GSMArena hinted that the OnePlus will be launched globally on January 24, but known tipster Max Jambor says it is coming to India on January 23. However, we suggest you take this information with a grain of salt since OnePlus is yet to unveil the global launch date.
