Nothing invites users to co-develop an ‘ultimate version’ of the Phone (3a)

Nothing is giving fans a chance to co-develop the "ultimate version" of its Phone (3a) through the second Community Edition Project.

Have you ever thought about designing a smartphone? Well, here’s an opportunity from Nothing, the London-based consumer tech brand, to co-develop the “ultimate version” of its Phone (3a) as part of the second Community Edition Project announced on Wednesday.

This time, winners will also receive a cash prize of £1,000. Interested users can submit their ideas via in.nothing.tech/pages/community-edition starting today, and submissions will close on April 23.

The second Community Edition Project has been divided into four different stages. The first stage involves hardware design, where participants will develop a fresh look for the device. The second stage focuses on accessory design, providing an opportunity to create custom and limited-edition accessories for the Phone (3a) Community Edition.

The third stage is software development, where users can build a custom skin, including a wallpaper series, widget, and clock icon pack for the smartphone. Finally, the fourth stage is dedicated to developing the marketing campaign for the device.

Nothing recently introduced the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro (review), the brand’s first set of camera-centric smartphones. The technical specifications of the Phone (3a) Community Edition will remain identical to the regular Phone (3a), but with a fresh new look and feel inside and out.

Last year, Nothing produced 1,000 units of a limited-edition glow-in-the-dark variant of the popular Phone (2a) Plus, which sold out in just 15 minutes. This time, the Phone (3a) Community Edition is also expected to be produced in limited numbers, and the project is expected to take a few months to complete.
