LG Nexus 5X, Huawei Nexus 6P: Specs comparison against top competitors
How does the Nexus 5X and 6P stack up against the top competition such as the iPhone 6s and Galaxy S6? We take a look in the specs chart

Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are Google’s latest Nexus smartphones, which have been made in collaboration with LG and Huawei respectively. So how do the Nexus 5X and 6P stack up against the top competition such as the iPhone 6s and Galaxy S6? We take a look in the specs chart below, including the speculated pricing of the upcoming smartphones.

While the chart above gives a quick look at the specs sheet for the two new phones against the iPhone 6s and S6, here’s a more detailed look into the competition focusing on display, camera, battery, and of course pricing. We’re also including the S6 edge+ into the competition as well.
Display : Nexus 5X has a 5.2-inch HD screen and Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch WQHD screen. While Nexus 6P has a super AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass 4, Nexus 5X has Gorilla Glass 3 and an LCD screen.
The Galaxy S6 on the other hand as a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED QHD screen, while the S6 edge has the same screen resolution with a dual-edge screen. The S6 edge+ has a bigger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD display as well with dual-edge.

The iPhone 6s has a 4.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit widescreen with Apple’s Retina Display 1334×750-pixel resolution at 326 ppi, while the iPhone 6s Plus has a bigger 5.5-inch 1080 p display. The iPhone 6s comes with a new display technology called 3D Touch, which offers ‘Peek and Pop’ options with apps.
Where bigger screen size and resolution goes, the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and S6 and S6 edge+ are ahead of the iPhone 6s, if you go purely by the numbers.
Camera: With the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, Google has kept the rear camera at 12.3 megapixels and the front camera is 8mp and 5mp respectively. Google says it has increased the image sensor size to 1.55 µm pixels in both and claimed in their launch presentation that the Nexus phones offer much better low-photography options that the iPhone 6s and Samsung Galaxy S6.
The Galaxy S6 with its 16 mp rear camera as we had noted in our review is one of the best in the business and also one of the fastest. Check out some more shots from S6 here.
For camera shots from the Galaxy S6 edge + you can check out our post on Facebook’s Menlo Park headquarters here. In terms of camera, the S6 or the S6 edge+ are both great options, so Nexus will have a tough battle there.

With the iPhone 6s, Apple has finally bumped up the camera resolution and even with its 8 mp camera in the iPhone 6, Apple offered some pretty good results. With iPhone 6s, Apple is offering a pixel sensor size of 1.22µ pixels, finally 4K recording and the ability to take 8 mp pictures while shooting these videos. Apple has also bumped up the front camera from its 2 mp resolution.
Battery: Google has really gone after the battery issues with the Nexus this time and offered software fixes like the Doze mode in Android 6, which will ensure that all background activity shuts down, when the Nexus 5X and 6P are not in use.
While Google has not specified the battery life, it is offering 7 hours of usage with 10 minutes of charging on the Nexus 6P and 3.8 hours of usage on Nexus 5X with the same amount of charging.

In our review of the Galaxy S6, we had noticed that it has great battery life and can easily last 24 hours, and offers substantially long battery life in just 10 minutes.
With the iPhone 6s, Apple has not confirmed the battery size, although some videos of the Apple iPhone 6s have revealed the battery life to be 1715 mAh. The iPhone 6s Plus is rumoured to have a battery life of 2750 mAh. Battery has remained Apple iPhone’s weak point and if long battery life is what you need, the iPhone 6s might not be the answer.
Pricing: Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are expected in India by mid to late-October and will cost Rs 39,999 and Rs 31,999 respectively.
iPhone 6s price has not yet been confirmed in India and it will launch on October 16. Some pricing sites have pegged the price at Rs 62,000 for the 16GB version, which is much higher than the unlocked version of the phone in the US. Unlocked iPhone 6s costs $645 in the US, which is around Rs 42,000, so with taxes, the price will be higher but whether it will be at Rs 62,000 is unconfirmed. The S6 is now retailing for Rs 41,900 while the S6 edge + is Rs 55,750 for the 32GB version.
In terms of pricing and top notch specs, the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P have the edge for now.
