Apple is set to introduce the iPhone 16 series in the first week of September, which will include four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. According to numerous leaks, the company has managed to upgrade the iPhone 16 Pro series from the inside out, making it a compelling option even for those who already own the iPhone 15 Pro series.
The iPhone 15 Pro is undeniably one of the best smartphones available in 2024. For a company like Apple, which releases multiple new iPhones every year, it’s crucial to reserve the best features for its most premium models. This is why, compared to the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Pro stands out in every aspect.
Several reports have highlighted that the iPhone 16 series will be powered by an A18 chip, while the iPhone 16 Pro series will feature the A18 Pro chip, expected to boast a more capable CPU, GPU, and NPU. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are speculated to include more RAM (at least 8 GB) to support Apple Intelligence features. The A18 Pro chip will be fabricated by TSMC, possibly using the cutting-edge N3E advanced fabrication process, similar to the M4 chip that powers the latest iPad Pro.
Apple has been positioning the iPhone 15 Pro series for AAA gaming, and with the iPhone 16 Pro series, the company is expected to deliver an entirely new level of performance. The A18 Pro chip could also enable the iPhone 16 Pro series to gain new generative AI features that won’t be available on previous models.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the largest iPhone Apple has ever made. To compete with the ever-evolving Android smartphones featuring large screens, Apple is speculated to include a 6.9-inch screen on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, while the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a 6.7-inch screen, according to analyst Mark Gurman.
Both variants are expected to have thinner bezels and a higher screen-to-body ratio. As with their predecessors, these displays will offer a 120Hz refresh rate, and the iPhone 16 Pro series is anticipated to provide enhanced brightness and contrast.
A new zoom lens and a high-resolution ultra-wide angle lens are also in the lineup. Apple included a 5x optical zoom lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which was not available on the iPhone 15 Pro. This time, both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will offer a zoom lens with 5x optical zoom. Both models are speculated to feature a 48 MP ultra-wide angle lens, similar to the wide-angle lens, as reported by MacRumors.
With a bigger screen on the front, both iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will include a much bigger battery. According to a Weibo-based leakster Instant Digital, the iPhone 16 Pro will come with a 3,577 mAh battery while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will include a bigger 4,676 mAh battery. Apple is expected to add up to 40W wired and 20W MagSafe-based wireless charging.
Bigger batteries combined with faster charging will deliver much better battery life. Both models will continue to offer USB-C ports with faster data transfer speeds.
Compared to the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone 16 Pro series will include several minor new features such as Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and a new capture button, and these devices are also expected to include a bigger action button. These features will ensure a better wireless networking experience and will also ensure an enhanced user experience.
Apple iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max with the aforementioned upgrades are also likely to warrant a price hike, which means, the iPhone 16 Pro Max could end up becoming the most expensive model.
