Huawei P9, its new flagship smartphone co-engineered with Leica for the dual rear cameras, has been officially announced by the company at an event in London.
Huawei P9’s stand-out feature is that it comes with dual-rear cameras with the lens from Leica. While one camera has an RGB sensor for taking coloured photos; the other has a monochrome sensor aka only pictures in black and white. Both cameras are 12.2 megapixels with a pixel size of 1.25 μm, which allows more light for better photos.
Huawei says that the two sensors let the P9 rear cameras capture a lot more light than rivals iPhone 6s, Samsung Galaxy S7 and more. The rear cameras come with dual-tone flash, and there’s an eight megapixel front camera with F2.4 aperture.
In terms of specs, the Huawei P9 has a 5.2-inch FHD Screen with 2.5D glass, comes with Huawei’s Kirin 955 (64-bit), octa-core processor, Android 6.0 OS, and a 3000 mAh battery. Huawei is launching the P9 in two SKUs 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM and 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM.
This is a 4G LTE ready smartphone, and supports USB Type C charging. The smartphone also has a fingerprint scanner at the back.
According to the The Verge, the Huawei P9 is priced at £449, which is around Rs 42,000 in UK with 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM, while the Huawei P9 Plus will cost £549, which is around Rs 52,000 with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM from mid-May.
We’ll have to wait and see if and when this smartphone launches in India.
