At the recently concluded Google annual developer conference, the tech giant unveiled the Pixel tablet. The Android-powered tablet is backed by Google’s in-house chipset – the Tensor G2. From availability to specifications, here’s all you need to know about the Google Pixel Tablet.
The Pixel Tablet comes with an 11-inch LCD display that has equal bezels on all sides and a resolution of 2560 x 1600 along with a matte back. While it might seem like made of plastic to some, the device sports aluminium frame.
It is powered by the Tensor G2, the same chipset that powers the Pixel 7a and last year’s Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Pixel Tablet has a four-speaker setup and a fingerprint scanner embedded in its power button.
The device comes with an 8GB of RAM, and 128GB and 256GB storage options. Unfortunately, it misses out on 5G and LTE connectivity.
Operating on Android 13 out-of-the-box, the software experience will be similar to that on Pixel devices. Google also said that it has optimised more than half of its apps to complement the large display and said that the Pixel Tablet will get three years of OS updates and five years of security patches.
There are two 8MP cameras – one on the rear panel and the other one on the front. Pixel Tablet comes with a magnetic speaker dock that can charge the device at 15W and doubles up as a big speaker with four times the bass of the Pixel Tablet speakers
When docked, it can show a slideshow of images just like the Nest Hub and can be used from afar to trigger Google Assistant queries.
It comes with a built-in Chromecast and can last up to 12 hours while streaming videos. Google has also made a case for the Pixel Tablet with a built-in stand which can be used with the magnetic dock.
Pixel Tablet is available for pre-order in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Japan, Australia and the Netherlands on the Google Store as well as retailers.
It is available in three colours – Porcelain, Hazel and Rose and will go on sale on June 20. The Pixel Tablet starts from $499 (approx. Rs 41,000) and won’t be available for purchase in India.
