At the Let Loose event, on Tuesday, Apple introduced two new iPad Air models, available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, powered by the M2 chip. For the first time, Apple is offering up to 1 TB of storage on an iPad Air, with the base model providing 128 GB of internal storage. The 11-inch model starts at Rs 59,900, while the 13-inch model is priced at Rs 79,900. Both models will be available for pre-order starting today through select channels. Compared to the previous model, these new iPads offer significant upgrades in features and performance. However, like their predecessors, they continue to feature a 60Hz LCD screen. The iPad Air is now available in Space Gray, Blue, Pink, Purple, and Starlight colour options. The new iPad Air models ship with iPadOS 17.5 and include 8 GB of RAM along with storage options of 128/256/512 GB or 1 TB. Apple is also calling the new iPad Air an "amazing device for AI" featuring a 16-core Neural Engine, capable of handling advanced frameworks along with on-device generative AI capabilities, and third-party apps such as Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365, Adobe Firefly and cloud-based AI solutions can also utilise this new hardware. These models still utilize Touch ID, with Face ID limited to the Pro models. The new iPad Air models boast a stereo speaker setup with support for spatial audio and high-resolution audio output via the USB-C port. It is compatible with Magic Keyboard, and it also supports Wi-Fi 6E and 5G networks (on cellular models) with eSIM support. This marks the first major update to the M1 iPad Air launched back in 2022. Like their predecessor, these iPads feature a 12 MP primary camera, a 12 MP selfie camera in landscape orientation, and a metal unibody design with a USB-C port supporting fast data transfer.
