Apple iPhone SE 4 rumours hint at a 6.1-inch screen, Face ID and USB-C

Alleged renders of the iPhone SE 4 hint that the upcoming phone will have a much larger 6.1-inch display and be the same size as the vanilla iPhone 14.

The iPhone SE 4 may finally ditch the physical Touch ID button and lightning connector in favour of Face ID and USB-C. While Apple is yet to shed light on the existence of the device, recently leaked renders hint that the upcoming phone may have an iPhone 14-like design.

According to 91mobiles, CAD renders of the iPhone SE 4 suggest that the much-anticipated phone will sport a 6.1-inch display, which is significantly bigger than the iPhone SE 5G’s minuscule 4.7-inch screen. However, it is still unclear if Apple will continue using an LCD panel or opt for an OLED screen.

The renders suggest Apple may finally ditch the physical Touch ID button in favour of a Face ID module on the top and the phone will have a notch similar to the iPhone 14 series. The upcoming device is also touted to feature a USB-C charging port instead of the lightning connector.

The dimensions of the iPhone SE 4 are said to be the same as the vanilla iPhone 14, hinting that Apple may use the same shell as the previous generation iPhone. While all these upgrades will be welcomed by most users, one area Apple might continue cutting corners is the camera department. The leaked renders show that the iPhone SE 4 will have a single camera, which is the same as its predecessors.

While Apple has traditionally used the latest A-series chipset in all iPhone SE models, the upcoming phone may sport a slightly older processor. This is because the tech giant has started saving its latest and fastest chips for the Pro models, with the vanilla iPhone and iPhone Plus variants packing last year’s processor.

Since Apple launched the first iPhone SE in 2016, the design and camera count have remained the same. If the iPhone SE 4 comes out, this will be the first real refresh in terms of design. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the phone will be launched sometime next year, but it won’t come as a surprise if Apple decides to unveil the phone alongside the upcoming iPhone 16 series.
