Pixel 9a seems to have suffered a slight delay. Even though Google has officially launched Pixel 9a, the device is yet to be available for pre-order on the Google Store. The norm has been that Google makes its new devices available for pre-orders soon after they are announced. This time, however, it seems that Google may have been accosted by some issue with its latest mid-ranger.
The Pixel 9a pre-orders have been halted, owing to ‘a component quality issue’. Perhaps this could be one of the reasons why the company in its official release said that it will be available in April without specifying the date. The new Pixel 9a was expected to be shipped before the end of March. Now, it seems the wait would be longer.
“We are currently investigating a component quality issue affecting a small number of Pixel 9a devices,” the company said.
The decision to delay, although disappointing for Pixel fans, seems to be a wise move by Google. A slight delay is much better than shipping devices that may have quality control issues. It needs to be noted that the said issue has only affected a small number of Pixel 9a devices.
Pixel 9a is priced at Rs 49,999 and rivals Apple’s recently launched iPhone 16e. The new Pixel device sports a sleek design with a flattened camera bump, contrary to the protruding camera islands spotted on the Pixel 8a and the recent Pixel 9 series smartphones.
The new device is powered by the Tensor G4 and sports a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a variable refresh rate. It features a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 cover. It features a dual rear camera module with 48 MP and 13 MP lenses and comes with improved IP68 protection. The Pixel 9a features longer battery life when compared to its predecessors. Just as in the Pixel 9 series, Google is also offering seven years of software support for the Pixel 9a.
Meanwhile, Google has said that it is adjusting the review period to align with the new on-shelf timeline.
