For those who are enrolled in the PlayStation beta programme, the PS4 4.00 operating system, codenamed ‘Shingen’, is now available for download. If you are signed up, you will be sent an email by Sony with the instructions on how to download the beta OS. The new system UI that Sony is bringing, will add tools for organisation, update the Quick Menu, and more.
Sony has explained in some detail, the big changes that will come to the PlayStation 4 with the Shingen update, some of the major ones include-
2. Privacy Settings – With the new privacy settings that come with Shingen, you will be able to hide your PS4 activities from being shared with your friends. Now you can play your guilty pleasure game on the PlayStation without being laughed at by your friends.
3. UI improvements – The system background, and the ‘What’s New tab’ now features a new look, and pop-up notifications have been redesigned.
4. Folders – Sony has addressed the biggest request that it has been getting from PS4 users – Folders. With Shingen, users will get the ability to create folders on the content launcher and library. This will give a user the ability to club their favourite games together in a single folder.
PS4 4.00 Shingen update also brings changes to User Profile, Communities, Trophy Achievements, Share Menu and Library.
The current PS4 version available from Sony is software version 3.55, which was released on June 21. Main features added with the update included the ability to create events, the ability to ‘Play Together’ on ‘Party’, get notifications when friends come online, the ability to change online status to offline, and use Remote Play on a computer through the ‘PS4 Remote Play’ app.
Sony is also giving away free games in August for anyone who is a member of PlayStation Plus. The lineup includes games like – Tricky Towers, Rebel Galaxy and Ultratron. Fans of Titanfall 2 will be able to download the game on their PS4 for an eight day trial starting today.
