AMD officially added two new GPUs to its Radeon RX 7000 series -RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT. Announced at the recently concluded Gamescom 2023 that took place in Germany, the company says the new GPUs are based on AMD’s new Navi 32 GPU and can comfortably run the latest titles on 1440p (2K).
The mid-range cards will be available in the market from September 6 and will soon be followed by the company’s upcoming Hypr-RX-enabled drivers. The new cards will launch on the same date as Bethesda’s upcoming space action RPG – Starfield, which the company is giving away for free on purchasing either the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT or RX 7700 XT.
While the RX 7800 features 60 compute units and ray accelerators along with 16GB of VRAM, its younger sibling – RX 7700 is a slightly toned down version with 54 compute units and ray accelerators and 12GB of GDDR6 memory.
As for power usage, the 7800 XT typically draws around 263W compared to 245W-rated RX 77700 XT. When it comes to pricing, the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT are priced at $499 and $449, which roughly translate to Rs 41,200 and Rs 37,000 respectively.
Considering the price difference, users can opt for the slightly higher-specced variant if they have the budget. AMD says the RX 7800XT and RX 7700 XT will compete against NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 and 4060Ti, which have a higher MRP.
The company also revealed some more details about its upcoming image scaling technology – FSR3. The new version of FSR will support image generation, something which the company claims can nearly double your frame rates in games like Forsaken.
FSR3 will be compatible with Radeon 5000,6000 and 7000 series GPUs and unlike DLSS, which is limited to NVIDIA’s own GPUs, it will also support 20-series, 30-series and the recently launched 40-series cards. However, it is still unclear if the image scaling technology will be available on Intel GPUs.
Also, there is no word when FSR3 will be available to everyone, but AMD revealed that some titles like Immortals of Aveum and Forspoken will be the first two games to get the feature. Some additional titles that will get FSR3 later on include Cyberpunk 2077, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Black Myth: Wukong.
