Microsoft recently updated its Surface lineup in October, and now it looks like the company has managed to taste success at Apple’s cost. In a blog post issued on Monday, Microsoft said that November was its best month for Surface sales worldwide.

It is worth noting the Windows 10 maker called Apple’s much-hyped new MacBook Pro a “disappointment”, especially in the eyes of the professional consumers. Microsoft is known for not mincing words against rivals, and it is now openly calling out the success of the Surface against the new MacBook Pro. Microsoft hasn’t specified the number for how many Surface Book or Surface Pro devices it has sold, even as it lauds the success of its new devices.

According to Microsoft’s blogpost, their  trade-in program for MacBooks in the US has boosted sales of the new Surface devices.  “It seems like a new review recommending Surface over MacBook comes out daily. This makes our team so proud, because it means we’re doing good work,” said Brain Hall, corporate vice president of Microsoft Devices Marketing.

The blogpost reads, “Our trade-in program for MacBooks was our best ever, and the combination of excitement for the innovation of Surface coupled with the disappointment of the new MacBook Pro – especially among professionals – is leading more and more people to make the switch to Surface, like this.

Microsoft Studio has so far got thunderous response from the press in the US, which is being viewed as a truly innovative desktop geared towards the creative professionals.

Microsoft’s post is also quick to point out the lack of innovation on the MacBook, and says that this is what has convinced people to switch to Surface, which offers a detachable keyboard, a stylus and a touchscreen. By comparison, the new MacBook Pro doesn’t come with a detachable keyboard or a touchscreen, although Apple did recently add a touchscreen strip over the top of the keyboard, removing the functional keys.

Microsoft may be calling the Surface PCs a “success” and the MacBook a “disappointment,” but not everyone agrees. A report by Slice Intelligence in early November said the new MacBook Pros outsold all of its competitors in just five days. Apple’s SVP Phil Schiller went to say that in November the new MacBook Pros set an online sales record on the Apple US Store compared to “any other pro notebook” made by them before. The MacBook Pro recently went on sale in India as well.
