Microsoft recently brought OpenAI’s o1 reasoning model to the free version of Copilot, and the company has now announced that it is now removing usage limits on Copilot Voice and Think Deeper.

In a blog post, Microsoft confirmed that the features are powered by the same large language model that backs the ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode and Deep Research.

If you haven’t tried them yet, Copilot Voice lets users have a conversation with the AI powered chatbot in the same way you would talk to a human. Similar to Gemini Live, users can also interrupt the AI chatbot when it is replying and asking another question.

As for Copilot’s Think Deeper functionality, it is pretty similar to ChatGPT’s Deep Research feature, which OpenAI has currently restricted to paid users. Microsoft says Think Deeper can come in handy for complex topics like “making a big purchase, assessing the future value of a home renovation or planning a career move.”

One thing to note is that Think Deeper will usually take more time to come up with an answer, so be ready for delayed responses.

These Copilot features aren’t new, but Microsoft had previously limited these features for those on the free tier. The company also said that the decision comes after many users hit usage restrictions, meaning you will now be able to engage in long conversations with the AI chatbot.

Microsoft’s decision to bring Copilot Pro features to free users might be motivated by the emergence of China’s DeepSeek AI-chatbot, which offers a similar set of features.
