Meta is bringing an array of AI-powered features to its Ray-Ban Meta glasses. The platform has also introduced the celebrity AI voice of Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, joining the list of the global lineup of voices for the AI assistant, including Hollywood celebrities Awkwafina, Judi Dench, etc.

Now, Meta AI glasses is offering hands-free voice interactions and Hindi language support for UPI Lite payments. It also allows users to create festive-inspired restyling of their photos.

Padukone is likely the first Indian actress to lend her voice to Meta AI. Her collaboration with the social media giant comes at a time when several film stars and musicians, including Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Asha Bhonsle, and Arjit Singh, have moved court to secure protection for their personality rights amid growing misuse of their likeness through AI-generated deepfakes.

Here’s how you can make the most of the latest Meta AI update.

Talk to Deepika Padukone’s AI voice hands-free

With the new update, users can now interact with Meta AI on their Ray-Ban Meta glasses using voice without taking out the phone. They simply need to say ‘Hey Meta’ to start conversations with the AI assistant. One can use the glasses to instantly explain something, get a quick trivia, a joke, a puzzle, or even translate a phrase. The AI will respond through the glasses.

This time, what’s new is that Meta has introduced celebrity voices, including a special AI version of Deepika Padukone’s voice in Indian English. To change the voice, head to the Meta AI app, and from there to Device Settings > Meta AI > Language and Voice, and select the Bollywood star’s voice.

Speak in Hindi to your glasses

Yet another interesting feature is that now users can speak to Meta AI on their Ray-Ban glasses in Hindi. This is possible owing to India’s homegrown AI model developer, Sarvam.

To start using Hindi, open the Meta AI app on your phone and go to
Device Settings > Meta AI > Language and Voice. Finally, choose Hindi as your preferred language.

Once done, you can give all your commands in Hindi. From asking questions (“Hey Meta, aaj ka mausam kaisa hai?”) to taking photos, recording videos, or answering calls and texts. This update is likely to make it easier for millions of users to interact with Meta AI, essentially bridging the language gap.

Click Diwali-inspired photos with ‘Restyle this’.

Ahead of the festive season, Meta has introduced a limited-time Diwali Restyle feature allowing users to decorate their photos with fireworks, rangoli effects, and more, all hands-free.

To try this, after taking a picture with the glasses, say, “Hey Meta, restyle this,” and Meta AI will automatically transform your capture into a Diwali-themed image. Users can view, save, or share these restyled photos in the Meta AI app. The feature runs for a limited period, giving users a festive, creative way to celebrate and share moments.

Make UPI Lite payments directly from your glasses

Meta is also testing UPI QR code payments directly through the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. The feature, which was demonstrated at the recent Global Fintech Fest, will be rolled out soon. In order to make a payment under Rs 1,000, users simply need to say, “Hey Meta, Scan and Pay.”

Following which Meta AI processes the payment via UPI Lite through your WhatsApp-linked bank account. All of this is done without needing to touch your phone or wallet. For Ray-Ban Meta glasses users, this feature could make everyday small purchases faster, safer, and seamless, according to Meta.
