Roger Federer’s ‘SABR’ shot has become the talking point of the ongoing US Open 2015. The Swiss Maestro, chasing his 18th Grand Slam, has come up with a trick of his own to flummox the opponent.
‘SABR’ can be described as the perfect street-smart sneak attack. Federer charges his opponent, while receiving the serve, and hits a return on the run. Federer’s audacious movement, even against deep serves, has left opponents and their coaches confused.

The origin
It all started at Cinicinnati Masters where he first tried the shot during a practice session with Benoit Paire. It was the Swiss’ coach Severin Luthi who encouraged him to try it in matches, and the move is paying rich dividends.
Federer was in a rush, and was tired, to finish the practice sessions. He kept charging the serve and kept chipping it away. They tried for a session, laughed.
The Maestro tried it again and they laughed again, but at the back of his mind he knew it was developing into a lethal weapon for his bid for no. 18.
‘SABR’
‘Sneak Attack By Roger’ is how Federer calls it. He doesn’t mind people calling it ‘Fed Attack’ or whatever they feel like. The shot is a hit among the fans and experts across the globe.
