Ben Stokes catch during 5th Ashes Test breaks the internet

On a day when Joe Root had stunned the world with a brilliant one-handed grab to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne, England skipper Ben Stokes one upped his teammate when he took a sensational catch in the deep to dismiss Aussie counterpart Pat Cummins.

With just the one wicket left in Australia’s kitty, Cummins decided to break the shackles and go for a boundary over long on off Root. And it looked like he had managed to get enough bat on it as it sailed over the ropes only for Stokes to neatly bring it back in and complete a successful grab.

Familiar scenes during El Clasico

Even though it was a pre-season clash, the El Clasico encounter on Sunday morning between heated rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona did not lack spice with a particular nasty tackle drawing in the players for an all out brawl.

Just before half-time, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong went in for an ugly challenge on Real defender Eder Militao from behind which provoked the Los Blancos players as they surrounded the Dutchman causing a huge melee involving both sets of players on the pitch.

De Jong was booked and Barca would ultimately triumph 3-0 against their arch rivals. With the season proper just a few weeks away, we can expect more clashes like these when these two lock horns in the La Liga.

Stuart Broad’s mind games have an effect on Labuschagne

England star Broad was up to some mischief during the 5th Ashes Test which might have cost Marnus Labuschagne his wicket.

With Labuschagne batting at 9 off 81 deliveries, Broad walked towards the striker’s end and flipped the bails. This was followed by Labuschagne leaning forward and edging one to the slips for Joe Root to nab a ripper. The right hander is seen complaining to the umpires about the incident whereas Broad would pat Usman Khawaja on the shoulders at the non-striker’s end.

“I’ve heard it’s an Aussie change of luck thing,” Broad told reporters after the match. “I’ve seen Nathan Lyon do it. We had a few play and misses in the morning session and we needed to make a breakthrough and I thought: ‘I’ll have a little change of the bails.’

“It just worked out pretty magically that he nicked the next ball and Rooty took a great catch. I randomly went and celebrated with Uzzy (Usman Khawaja]) for some reason. He said: ‘If you touch my bails I’m flipping them straight back.’ So he gave me an immediate warning,” the pacer, who will be retiring after this Ashes series, said.
