The man, who had just scored 16 runs in his last six innings in white ball cricket, returned to form and took his team to a five wickets win with 14 ball remaining on Sunday. Suryakumar Yadav smacked 43 off 25 to propel Mumbai Indians’ 186-5 in 17.4 overs in reply to Kolkata’s 185-6.

Now the next morning on Monday, MI have shared a video on their social media handles of how Suryakumar prepared for the match against KKR. In the video, Surya can be seen playing all his unorthodox shots with ease.

The hard-hitting 360-degree batter has invented several shots which have rarely been seen before in cricket. Be it the Nataraj swipe over fine leg, helicopter whip over wide, pick-up over deep square leg, flick behind square, ramp over wicketkeeper and drive over extra cover region, Surya had everything here at the nets which rings the alarm bells for opponents in the coming games in the IPL 2023.

On Sunday while chasing, Mumbai got a quick start as Rohit Sharma, who didn’t field or lead the side, came out to bat as the impact player. He scored 20 off 13 balls and put on 65 off 29 balls with Ishan Kishan.

Also finding his footing, Kishan smacked 58 off 25, including five fours and five sixes.

Thanks to their opening stand, Mumbai stayed ahead of the curve but wrist spinner Suyash Sharma took 2-27 in four overs, including Sharma’s wicket, with the score now 87-2.

But Yadav and in-form Tilak Varma didn’t let the momentum die out. They added 60 off 38 balls for the third wicket, hitting four sixes and seven fours.

All-rounder Tim David applied the finishing touch with 24 not out off 13 as Mumbai won with plenty to spare.

It was Mumbai’s second win in four games and it climbed to eighth with four points. Kolkata stayed fifth, also with four points, from two wins in five games.
