The curtains are set to fall on the IPL 2025 extravaganza on Tuesday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium as Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings eye their maiden title in 17 years. However, there is also the faint possibility that the final will not be concluded altogether tonight in Ahmedabad.

The IPL 2025 final is slated to be affected by the monsoon showers in the evening, and probably just like the Qualifier 2 encounter last Sunday between PBKS and the Mumbai Indians, fans and everyone invested could be in for a perennially long delay to close the T20 season. Persistent showers during the qualifier game had witnessed a near three-hour delay in start of play, leading the game to a post-midnight finish only towards 2:30 AM on Monday.

Who will win RCB vs PBKS IPL 2025 in case of washout in Ahmedabad?

In case the extra allotted time of 120 minutes will also not be sufficient to reel in a result tonight, the IPL 2025 final will move into the reserve day of June 4, Wednesday. In the unlikely case of another washed out day in Ahmedabad, the title winner will be decided by virtue of their league stage performances. So, even if RCB had beaten PBKS in the first Qualifier last Thursday to directly bolt into the final, a rain washout will declare Shreyas Iyer’s PBKS the winner post the reserve day.

PBKS had topped the league stage standings with 19 points. Even though RCB had also accumulated 19 points with an equal number of wins (9), the IPL’s playing conditions will place Punjab by  virtue of their better Net Run Rate during the regular season before the Playoffs. While PBKS had managed a positive NRR of 0.372, RCB finished with an NRR of +0.301 in the first clear differentiator between the finalists’ league stage finish.
