(Sportzpics)India’s premier off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retired from international cricket after the third Test of the Border Gavaskar series, drawing the curtains on one of the most decorated careers ever. Last year, he became the 14th Indian and the first Tamil Nadu cricketer to feature in 100 Test matches when he played the fifth Test against England at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
In a recent interaction, Ashwin revealed that he had invited Mahendra Singh Dhoni for hsi 100th Test but the former India captain couldn’t make it. Ashwin said that he wanted to get a memento for his 100th Test from Dhoni but added that he got an even better gift when the former Chennai Super Kings captain played a big part in Ashwin’s return to the franchise in the 2025 IPL mega auction.
“I called MS Dhoni for my 100th Test in Dharamshala to hand over the memento. I wanted to make that my last Test. But he couldn’t make it. However, I didn’t think he would give me the gift of getting me back to CSK. It’s a much better one. So, thank you, MS, for doing it. I’m glad to be here,” Ashwin said.

“Most importantly, I have come back to CSK not as a person who has achieved all those things but as someone who has gone through the full circle and wants to come back here and enjoy those same moments that I enjoyed all those years ago. It is a wonderful place to be,” he added.
After beginning his domestic career on a promising note, Ashwin came to national prominence with CSK in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. His performances ultimately opened the national doors and had been an integral part of the franchise between 2008-2015.
