IPL 2023: Amit Mishra lauds ‘curious’ Ravi Bishnoi after LSG’s win over SRH

“He is very positive. I tell him the ways he can wicket from, the areas he can ball in. He has ‘waiting-game’ style bowling; he waits for the batter to make a mistake and I make the batsman make a mistake so this is the difference and it’s very important for us to understand it,” he said during the post-match presentation.

“Bishnoi is bowling really well. We are two different bowlers and we share a very good bond. He always approaches me for advice and I tell him. The best thing about him is that he is curious to learn new things and try to tell him according to his bowling style,” he added.

Bishnoi took the all-important wicket of Harry Brook for 3 as SRH were in tatters at 55 for 4 in nine overs.

When asked the plan behind coming to bowl after Bishnoi, Mishra revealed, “The idea was that when the ball is new it skids more, so Bishnoi was given the bowl because his ball skids and it’ll the batsman no time and when the ball gets old it spins more, then I could deliver googlies and use variations”

When quizzed about the team’s experiments with the playing XI, the 40-year old said, “The tournament has just started and we want our best playing XI to be chosen.”

“Guys who are doing well in the nets.., who are batting well, we want to give them chances so that we have the best playing XI in crucial games,” he added.

Mishra, who was substituted by ‘Impact Player’ Ayush Badoni with just one over left in the innings took two wickets and gave away only 23 runs. Speaking of his spell, he said, “I didn’t do anything special, just tried to read the wickets and what shots can the batsmen play on my ball and that gave me success.”

“I’m very happy, not because of my performance but because our team won and our confidence has built for the next match,”he added.
