14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashes fastest fifty of IPL 2025, becomes youngest half-centurion in T20 history

IPL 2025: Vaibhav Suryavanshi's half-century, the first of his T20 career, is also one of the quickest fifties ever in IPL history by an uncapped batter.

Fastest IPL fifties: Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi went on a rampage on Monday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur as he smashed the fastest fifty of the IPL 2025 season in only 17 balls against Gujarat Titans in a 210-run chase.

Suryavanshi’s half-century, the first of his T20 career, is also the third-quickest fifties ever in IPL history by an uncapped batter. The dashing southpaw also became the youngest batter to hit a fifty in men’s T20 cricket history, also become the youngest half-centurion in the IPL in the process. Aged 14 years and 32 days, Suryavanshi is the first 14-year-old to crack a half-century in men’s T20s.

Overall, Yashasvi Jaiswal tops the charts for the fastest Indian Premier League fifty, having smashed one in only 13 balls in IPL 2023. Jaiswal had broken a joint record held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins during his breakout IPL season, shortly before making his India debut.

Opening the innings alongside Jaiswal in a 210-run chase against the Titans, Suryavanshi teed off by opening his account with a six off Mohammed Siraj in the first over before taking down veteran pacer Ishant Sharma for 26 runs with three sixes and two fours in the fourth over of the innings. Rajasthan sped to 50 in only 3.5 overs, making it their joint-fastest fifty in Jaipur.

Suryavanshi then reached his half-century in the fifth over, as he carved off-spinner for two sixes and a four to etch the milestones.
