Top India sports stars, including the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammed Azharuddin, Virat Kohli and double Olympic medallist shuttler PV Sindhu, have lost the blue check marks that helped verify their identity on the micro-blogging site Twitter. The legacy blue check marks were previously granted to journalists, public officials, and celebrities for free as a measure against impersonation and spam on the social media platform. Amidst this, former India cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin took to Twitter to share his unique verification as he posted a photo with his mother wearing a blue saree and captioned it as, “that’s my blue tick verification” and gave Eid wishes to fans. And that’s my blue tick verification. Eid Mubarak and special blessings from my mother. #EidAlFitr #EidUlFitr pic.twitter.com/E90qPK2iUz— Mohammed Azharuddin (@azharflicks) April 22, 2023 Meanwhile, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar too responded to a fan’s query of his verification by giving an epic response. "Now that, you don't have the blue tick, how can we be sure that you're the real Sachin Tendulkar?," a fan asked. To which Tendulkar posted a smiling picture of himself, wearing a blue t-shirt and wrote, "As of now, this is my blue tick verification!." As of now, this is my blue tick verification! 😬 pic.twitter.com/OEqBTM1YL2— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) April 21, 2023 Twitter, which was taken over by business magnate and Tesla CEO Elon Musk last year, however, removed the blue ticks from accounts that don’t pay a monthly subscription for the service on Thursday. “Tomorrow, 4/20, we are removing legacy verified checkmarks,” the official Twitter Verified account had tweeted on Wednesday.
