Shrivastava's runout is how it has ended for Oman in the end. It has been a brilliant performance from Junaid Siddique with the ball in the 2nd innings, and the openers in the first innings did the job with the bat. As per Oman, though they have their issues off-field cricketing, there is a long way to go, and be it in bowling or in batting skill, they are just not there yet at this point. That's it from us for today.

Alishan Sharafu 51(38) and Muhammad Waseem 69(54) scored half-centuries to take UAE to 172/5 from 20 overs. Earlier, Oman skipper Jatinder Singh won the toss and opted to bowl first against Muhammad Waseem’s United Arab Emirates in match 7 of the Asia Cup 2025 in Abu Dhabi. Coming into the game, both sides have lost their opening encounters quite convincingly and are almost out of contention to make it into the Super Four stages of the tournament.

The UAE had given a decent account of themselves in the Tri-series; however, they were blown away in the opening encounter against the powerful Indian side. Despite the result, the UAE still has some skillful players in the squad. The likes of Muhammad Waseem are prolific run scorers at the top of the order.

Oman, on the other hand, lacks experience on the side. The team that played in the West Indies and the United States in the T20 World Cup 18 months ago is largely diluted, with only a few, like the skipper Jatinder Singh, left in the squad. However, this is their first time showing in this tournament, and they will be hoping to create an impact against the UAE.

At no point was Oman in this chase. A few good shots from skipper Jatinder Singh gave a glimpse that Oman could put up a fight here, but it tapered off quite quickly. As per the UAE, they seem to be clearly far more ahead in their progress as an associate compared to Oman. Some of the bowling has been quite professional, and batting, too, has been quite exceptional.
Jawadhullah has picked up another wicket here. Jiten tried to heave the ball on the leg-side and got the outside edge to fine-leg, who took a simple catch. As we update, Hassnain picked up another wicket here, and it is Vinayak Shukla. UAE is two wickets away from a thumping win here in Abu Dhabi.
Jawadullah is the new bowler who has come into the attack and has broken the partnership. Bisht gave himself room and tried to whack the ball on the off-side through covers, and the stumps got rattled. The partnership really saved the blushes for Oman, or things could have been a lot worse. This has been a very impressive UAE bowling performance here.
Bisht and Shukla are building a nice partnership here. However, they have left a lot of work for themselves to do in Oman. They needed someone in the top three or four to chip in with a half-century. However, we have seen in the past the beauty of T20 cricket, one player can take the game away from the opposition, and Oman will be hoping one of these two can do that.
Oman, after winning the toss with the inexperience in their batting, should have batted first; however, they have opted to bowl first, whatever reason they had for it, and when the chase started, they needed to have a solid plan on how they wanted to go about this, but they did look like they had no roles assigned on how they wanted to go about the chase and in no time they have lost five wickets. They are under serious threat of getting bowled out for a really low total here.
Haider Ali has picked up Faisal Shah, and that is half the Oman side gone. The left-hander tried to whack the left-arm spinner through the mid-wicket and skied it, the fielder inside the ring took a simple catch. UAE has bowled quite brilliantly here. As much as Oman did not apply themselves, the UAE, too, has been quite smart with their bowling plans, and they have managed to create those errors from the batters. It does seem like the UAE is a bit too much to handle for Oman, which is quite disappointing from their perspective, but that is where things are for them as of now/
Oman is tumbling here. Another wicket has fallen here, Rohid Khan's delivery Mirza hit straight into the hands of the point fielder. It does seem like the result is all but decided in this contest. What a disappointing effort this is turning out to be from Oman. They needed some partnerships, but they kept losing wickets, and most of them are soft wickets.
Siddique picks up Oman skipper Jatinder Singh here. The captain looked in good form after playing a few crisp shots; however, he eventually chipped one onto stumps. This is a very good start for the UAE. Although both these sides are closely matched, the UAE just seem to have more seasoned players who know how to get the job done. As we update, Haider Ali picks up the wicket of Wasim Ali.
UAE drew first blood in that opening over. Kaleem tried to hit the ball over mid-off fielder, but was holed out inside the ring. This is not the start Oman was expecting, chasing this total. In fact, Siddique could have had two wickets in that over, but the second opportunity presented was dropped.
It is a chasable total for Oman; however, they need to apply themselves. As per the UAE, it is about picking early wickets with the new ball and keeping piling on that run-rate pressure. It is going to be a fascinating chase, do stay with us folks.
That is a decent total by the UAE, but they still have to bowl well and take their chances, as under lights, the ball will skid on nicely. Credit must be given to Sharafu and skipper Waseem for the way they batted and constructed this batting innings. It is a good score, but not something that Oman can chase if they play it sensibly. We will be right back after the short break. Do stay with us.
Zohaib has departed here. He did the damage, though he batted quite well, according to the situation. Although the UAE has put on a good show here in the first innings, scoring has gotten harder as the ball got a tad bit older. 180 would have been a good score, but with the score UAE will be putting on here, it seems like they are leaving a door open for Oman to chase these runs.
Waseem has now gone past 3000 runs in his international cricket in the T20 format, and no UAE batter has crossed this mark before. Zohaib, who has walked into the middle, is hitting a few here and is adding misery to the Oman bowlers. They were in a bit of a pickle where the UAE was losing two quick wickets, but this partnership is ensuring they put on a good first innings total
Waseem has scored a half-century here. He smashed Shrivastava down the ground to get past the mark. This is a very responsible innings from the captain. He did take a bit of time to get started in his innings, but once he saw Sharafu took the initiative, he played the second Fidel and got his boundaries away from time to time to keep up with par score rate on this wicket.
The experiment to send Asif Khan has failed. Leg-spinner Srivasthava has got the breakthrough here. The batter played for the leg-spin; however, the wrong-un came back in and the inside edge went on to hit the stumps. UAE has lost a couple of quick wickets here; it is important that skipper Waseem stays in the middle at least till the 18th-19th over.
Jiten is the bowler who creates that magic delivery from Oman eventually. Sharafu gave himself room and tried to hit the ball through the off-side; however, he yorked himself, and the off-stump went cartwheeled. Asif Khan has walked into the middle. He is the power-hitter in this unit, and, interestingly, the UAE has decided to send him upstairs.
Mirza has spilled an opportunity here at deep-midwicket. He misjudged the opportunity and was standing 10 yards inside the boundary line. When the partnership is going the way it is, Oman cannot afford to make errors as such. One thing that has been quite notable with Oman is that though they have many bowling options, few are penetrative enough to pick wickets.
This is a very good start for the UAE; both openers have batted quite sensibly here. We have seen even in the UAE's first game against India, they were 47/2 before they crumbled. Even today, they have put on a solid opening partnership, which shows it is the top order that is their strength when it comes to batting. Sharafu has been in top-notch form. He is playing a lovely hand here in the middle.
The last couple of overs have gone 27 runs for Oman, that is lovely batting from Waseem and Sharafu. They found it hard to adjust to the pace of the surface; however, once they got adjusted, their proactiveness started to work out as their sweeps and inside-out shots were middled to perfection. It is that flash point where, after pressure builds, either a big one comes or wickets tumble. In this case, the UAE has the better of the bowling side.
This is a good start for Oman so far, opting to bowl first. The UAE batters have tried to dance down the track or sweep against Shakeel and Faisal, but nothing has worked. This one seems to be quite a different pitch from what we saw the other day when Bangladesh and Sri Lanka met. UAE openers need to find a way to convert that aggression into runs here.
We are done with the opening over here. Shakeel took the new ball, and there seems to be a bit of a lack of bounce in the surface. Sharafu and Waseem are quite organised openers, and they would be looking to set a good platform here for the UAE. As per Oman, their primary strength is their spinners, and they will try to trouble the UAE batters with the slowness of the deck this afternoon.
Well, the national anthems are done. Both sides are ready, it is scorching heat in the middle, and it is a bit of an odd call from the Oman skipper to bowl first in this weather. We only have to wait and see how much of an impact that will have through the evening.

We started well as a batting team, we lose wickets in a cluster which cost us the game. They are a brilliant team and they are bowling very well. They are executing their plans for every batter, that's why they are the No.1 team. As a team we will try to come back stronger and learn from our mistakes.
Restricting them to under 160, I am very proud of the boys on how we bowled. They executed the plans that were discussed. We didn't rotate the strike, there were some nerves and our team is better than what we performed today. (message to the team) To back ourselves, play positive cricket and not see who is bowling.
