There was an unplanned pause in the proceedings during the India-Australia ODI World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium as a pitch invader breached into the playing area donning a ‘stop bombing Palestine’ shirt in relation to the ongoing conflict with Israel.

It would happen during the Indian innings as Virat Kohli batted alongside KL Rahul in the middle as the invader, also wearing a Palestine flag mask, sprinted towards Virat Kohli leading to a stoppage in the play.

The security forces stationed by the boundary eventually got a hold of the invader and escorted him.

Kohli, who arrived in the middle early after the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket in the powerplay, went on to score 54 off 63 deliveries – his sixth fifty at this World Cup. The former India captain eventually chopped a Pat Cummins short ball onto his stumps in the 29th over.

Kohli has been India top scorer at the ongoing World Cup and is the only batter to have breached the 700 run mark in a single edition of the ODI World Cup.
