What is Modi trying to achieve? Kejriwal on AAP MLA’s arrest

A day after Aam Aadmi Party MLA Surinder Singh was granted bail in a case of alleged assault on an NDMC employee, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the arrest and questioned his motive.

“The Modi government gets Commando Surinder arrested. In less than 24 hours, he gets bail. What is Modiji trying to achieve?” Kejriwal said on Twitter.

Singh, the Delhi Cantonment MLA, was arrested on Friday for allegedly beating and manhandling an NDMC worker in Tughlaq Road area on August 4, when a team of municipal officials was doing routine check-up and had apprehended an e-rickshaw driver to ascertain his documents.

Singh’s driver Pankaj and assistant Praveen were also arrested after the trio was called for questioning by police. He was granted bail yesterday and the other two were released on a personal bond of Rs 30,000 each with one surety of the same amount.

Singh is the third AAP MLA who has been arrested in the last two months. Former Delhi Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar was held in a fake educational degree case in June and Kondli legislator Manoj Kumar was apprehended in July in connection with a land fraud case.
