Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat to fight assembly polls from Dharchula

Rawat became Uttarakhand CM on February 9.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat is all set to contest the Assembly elections from the Dharchula seat in Pithoragarh for his continuation in the office.  On Tuesday, Congress MLA from Dharchula seat Harish Dhami resigned from the membership of the House to pave the way for Rawat to enter the Assembly. Dhami said he had always wanted Rawat to contest the election from a seat which is located in the hills. “Now I would request CM Rawat to contest the election from Dharchula,” Dhami said. Later, speaker of the Assembly Govind Singh Kunjawal confirmed Dhami’s resignation had been accepted. Rawat became Uttarakhand CM on February 9.
