Sanjay,Manyata say they voted for Priya Dutt

Trying to draw a line between blood relations and political affiliations,Actor Sanjay Dutt said he voted for his sister Priya Dutt.

Trying to draw a line between blood relations and political affiliations,Actor Sanjay Dutt of the Samajwadi party who has had an uneasy relationship with sister Priya on Thursday said he voted for the sitting Congress MP.

Dutt’s wife Manyata Dutt also said she voted for Priya,the Congress candidate from Mumbai North-Central constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.

“I voted for my sister. She is my blood. She has done a lot of work in the constituency,” said Sanjay.

Manyata said,”I have voted for the family,for the candidate and not for the part.”

Manyata was rumoured to be behind Sanjay’s decision to join Samajwadi Party.

The 56-year-old actor had married Manyata in a small ceremony in February last year,which was not attended by his sisters Namrata and Priya. In published comments,Priya had expressed unhappiness over the wedding.

Priya was also not at ease with Sanjay’s decision to join Samajwadi Party. Dutt’s maiden bid to contest elections from Lucknow on a Samajwadi ticket failed following a Supreme Court order.

After the death of Sunil Dutt in 2005,the family decided that Priya will continue the political legacy of her father by contesting on a Congress ticket from his constituency.
