Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said all political parties should reach a consensus on bringing in anti-conversion law.

Addressing the 82nd annual pilgrimage conference at Sivagiri Mutta at Varkala near here, Singh said the Government was ready to bring in legislation to prevent conversion. If everyone lives according to the dharma of one’s own religion, there won’t be any controversy over conversion, he said.

Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, who addressed the conference in another session, said the Government would not unilaterally bring in anti-conversion law. “If there is no conversion, there is no anti-conversion. Organizations should understand both conversion and anti-conversion are bad. The government would not approve both conversion and anti-conversion,” said Naidu.
