The Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of violating the model code of conduct by asking the electorate to throw out “two families who have ruled and looted Jammu Kashmir for ten years.”

In a written complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath, the Panthers Party chief patron Prof Bhim Singh complained that Prime Minister Modi, during his speech at Kishtwar on Sunday, said that “Two families have robbed Jammu and Kashmir for ten years and throw them out.” Singh said that these words of Modi in his election speech amount to grave violation of the Code of Conduct as he has tried to accuse and defame two families instead of political parties. Moreover, by his words “Ukhar Ke Phenk Do”, he has tried to incite violence and committed a criminal offence in the eyes of law, Singh said.

Requesting the Election Commission to screen the words spoken by Modi at his Kishtwar rally, the Panthers Party leader sought his immediate intervention into the matter. Democracy cannot survive if Prime Minister of India started inciting sentiments of the people and fuel violence and hatred in his election speech against particular families or persons, he added.
