Media should highlight truths behind Cong claim: Nitish

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar accused Union Ministers and Congress leaders of 'slinging muds' against his Govt.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday accused Union Ministers and Congress leaders of “slinging muds” against his government and asked them to specify any additional fund given by the Centre to the state other than the funds allocated by the Planning Commission and Finance Commission.

“A battery of the Union Ministers from Congress and its leaders are touring Bihar at the time of elections and are slinging muds against the state government,” Kumar told reporters.

“I want to know from them to specify whether the Centre is extending help to Bihar other than allocation of funds by the Planning Commission and Finance Commission under fixed yardsticks,” he said.

Kumar also asked them to explain as to whether there was any other alternative than providing funds to the states in keeping with the fixed yardsticks.

“When NDA was power at the centre,it had decided to give Rs 1000 crore to Bihar every year to compensate the loss it suffered after a separate Jharkhand state was carved out,” he said, adding “but it is unfortunate that the amount has not yet been increased despite the state asking for it.”

“It is now now election time and whatever the Congress ministers and its leaders from the Centre are saying is being covered by media and the state government is defending its position,” he said.

“But it has become necessary that the media must apply the mind and research to highlight the truths behind the claims of Congress leaders,” he added.
