KCR’s health may decline rapidly: Doctor

Worried over his deteriorating health, doctors have advised TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao to call off his nearly ten day fast-unto-death.

Doctors monitoring the health of TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said on Tuesday that his health may start deteriorating in the next 24 hours. KCR,who has been on a fast-unto-death since November 29,is admitted to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) where he is surviving on intravenously administered fluids.

NIMS director Dr D Prasad Rao said that KCR was refusing treatment and that prolonged use of IV will start showing its effects. “If he continues with his hunger strike his life would be in danger,” Dr Rao said.

“Keeping him healthy artificially creates its own problems in the body over a few days. He is being given saline and parenteral nutrition but it is leading to problems now. The protein content in his blood has come down which affects resistance power in the body. At this point of time he needs healthy oral nutrition otherwise his health may start deteriorating rapidly now,” Dr Rao said.

KCR is hypertensive and diabetic and this may exacerbate complications, the doctor said.
