According to latest trends displayed on the Election Commission (ECI) website, the AAP's Sushil Kumar Rinku leads Congress's Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary by over 16,000 votes in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll, with the BJP's Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal and the SAD's Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi (backed by the BSP) at distant third and fourth places. Bypoll for the seat was triggered by the death of the Congress candidate's husband Santokh Singh Chaudhary. Over in Uttar Pradesh, Kirti Kol of the Samajwadi Party (SP) is leading Rinki Kol of the Apna Dal (Sonelal) in the bypoll for the Chhanbey Assembly seat in Mirzapur with 3,304 votes. The bypoll was necessitated by the death of incumbent Rahul Prakash Kol of the Apna Dal (S). In a direct face-off for the bypoll to Suar Assembly constituency in Rampur, Shafeek Ahmed Ansari of the Apna Dal (S) is leading Anuradha Chauhan of the Samajwadi Party (SP) by 2,217 votes. The bypoll became necessary after incumbent Abdullah Azam Khan of the SP was dismissed. At Jharsuguda in Odisha, Deepali Das of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) appears to be headed for a sweeping victory, leading Tarun Pandey, the son of late MLA Biren Pandey of the Congress by 31,485 votes after just 11 rounds of counting. The bypoll was necessitated by the murder of sitting BJD MLA and Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, the father of BJD candidate Deepali Das, earlier this year.
