‘Goondaraj’ not over: Boy killed in SP celebratory firing,scribes attacked

Firing to celebrate victory of Sambhal SP candidate Iqbal Mahmood kills 12-yr-old.

A young boy was killed today during celebratory firing,allegedly by Samajwadi supporters,after a party candidate’s victory in Sambhal while workers from the same party clashed with several TV cameramen in Jhansi during which their equipment was broken.

Police said the 12-year-old boy,identified as Danish,died after being hit by a bullet during celebratory firing allegedly by supporters of SP candidate from Sambhal Iqbal Mahmood. Sambhal is about 350 km from here.

Superintendent of Police D K Garg said necessary action was being taken.

Reports reaching here from Jhansi,about 300 km from here,said supporters of the SP clashed with some TV cameramen during which some of their equipment were broken.

A complaint in this regard has been registered with the district administration,sources said.

Meanwhile,counting for the Babina Assembly seat in Jhansi had to be stopped after the seal of 17 EVMs were found broken.

Official sources said counting was stopped in the evening following objections from SP candidate Chandrapal Singh Yadav.

Sources said further directives have been sought from the Election Commission.

District magistrate Anil Garg confirmed the counting had been suspended.
