EC welcomes Aamir’s campaign to enhance awareness

The Election Commission welcomed the campaign launched by Bollywood star Aamir Khan and others to increase voters’ awareness about the importance of voting ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

More voters’ awareness would strengthen democracy,Deputy Election Commissioner R Balakrishnan told reporters here when asked about Khan’s campaign to create awareness among the people to choose the right leaders.

“The EC will welcome any individual,educational institutions or NGOs to use full social responsibility in creating voter awareness,” he said.

A Mumbai-based NGO,Association for Democratic Reforms and National Election Watch,has launched a nationwide voter awareness campaign ‘Vote for Integrity,Vote for Good People’ on Tuesday.
