Dhumal ‘s son steps-up tirade

Explain exponential rise in three-year income during tenure as steel minister asks Virbhadra.

Opening-up a direct front against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s younger son Arun Singh-who is also one of the accused in the FIR registered against Dhumal’s both sons in a land purchase case,on Tuesday stepped up his tirade against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and raised questions on exponential rise in the apple orchards’ income from few lakhs to some crores only during his three years stint as union minister for steel.

On the second-day of his tirade against Chief Minister,Dhumal’s younger son came-out with atleast seven sets of documents relating to revised income tax returns of Virbhadra Singh of year 2008-09,2009-10 and 2010-11 ,his investments in the LIC single premium policies and irregular bank deposits (with dates) of one Anand Chauhan, who was engaged for managing ‘Shrikhand’ orchard and handling the receipts of his income .

Arun Singh said “Chief Minister must reveal to the public as what magic worked to increase his income from Rs 7.35 lakhs to Rs 2.13 crores in 2008-2009 ,from Rs 15 lakhs to Rs 2.80 crores in 2009-10 and from Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 1.55 crores in 2010-11 and eventually it crashed back to Rs 25 lakh in 2011-12 after he had resigned as union minister”.

Addressing a press conference (part-II) of his three-day planned schedule,Arun Singh, however, said he was not rpt not leveling any allegations against Chief Minister. “As a citizens and a person ,born in a political family currently being targeted as part of vendetta politics ,I have reasons to raise certain pertinent questions ,on some authentic documents which had come to my hands. The Income tax returns were revised on a single day i e March 2,2012,one of these having already been accepted by the IT ‘s assistant Commissioner, and after grace period of one month having already lapsed”,he alleged.

Now the question is does the IT law allowed revision of these returns and to much an high amount when there are corroboration facts that Anand Chauhan, whose Bank account had shown irregular deposited and withdrawal to the tune of Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs in a single day. Does the banking norms also permits so. If not,did anyone question the transactions and If not why?,Dhumal’s son asked.

The strange thing,he asked, was that the income of the said orchard ,which rose to Rs 2.80 crores-highest in 2009-10 (revised from Rs 15 lakh) has suddenly come down to Rs 25 lakhs in 2011-12. “ If there is some innovative technology which worked to his favour for high income let orchardists in Himachal Pradesh also take advantage of it or gentleman Anand Chauhan can also help? he asked sarcastically.”

Though, the IT tax returns’ issue was also racked up BJP’s leader in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely during the 2012 assembly elections ,and also linked it with alleged pay off scam in the Steel ministry,Arun Singh said he was seeking public attention about rise and fall in the farm income could be justified by a person, who had resorted to political vendetta to malign his family, particularly him and brother Anurag Thakur.
