BJP said on Sunday that it will ‘gherao’ Parliament in the first week of March on the issue of price rise. In the last four months, prices of sugar and pulses rose drastically but this hike has not benefited the farmers, party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told a press conference at kolhapur in Maharashtra.
“Price of sugar rose to Rs 50 per kg but farmers got only Rs 16 per kg for their sugarcane. The situation is now unbearable and BJP will agitate against it,” he said. Demonstrations and agitations are now taking place at district levels but BJP workers from all over the country will ‘gherao’ Parliament in the first week of March,he added.
Javadekar said BJP’s stand was firm about agricultural yield prices. We support the recommendations made by agriculture scientist Dr M S Swaminathan about prices. Central government should accept it,he said.
