State BJP sought action by the Election Commission of India against Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accusing them of violating the model code of conduct by making announcements meant to please displaced Pakistani Nationals living in the state.
An action be ensured against Chidambaram and Gehlot who did not obey the EC’s guidelines and violated the model of conduct by pleasing voters,BJP’s Election Cell led by Arun Chaturvedi demanded in a memorandum submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer inJaipur.
The Union Home Minister held a meeting with the Chief Minister here yesterday to discuss issues related to internal security.
The memorandum accused Gehlot of raising the issues of Indian Citizenship to displaced Pakistanis living in Jaisalmer and Barmer and the shifting of immigration facilities to Thar Express passengers from Jodhpur to either at Munabao or Barmer at his meeting with Chidambaram and charged the latter with assuring to take up the demands for consideration at a press conference later.
