(PTI Photo)Election Commission of India (ECI) Ludhiana, Kaliganj, Visavadar, Kadi, Nilambur by poll Results 2025 LIVE Updates: Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil on Monday resigned from the post following the party’s abysmal performance in the bypolls in Kadi and Visavadar assembly constituencies. In the Kadi seat of Mehsana district, BJP’s Rajendra Chavda emerged victorious by a margin of around 39,500 votes over Congress’ Ramesh Chavda. In Visavadar, AAP’s Italia Gopal defeated BJP’s Kirit Patel by a margin of over 17,500 votes. Meanwhile Nitin Ranpariya secured only 5,501 votes. Taking the “moral responsibility” for the defeat, Gohil said he has already mailed his resignation letter to the party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Who were the candidates in fray? In Nilambur (Kerala), Congress’ Aryadan Shoukath won the seat with a margin of more than 11,000 votes. AAP’s Sanjeev Arora, a sitting Rajya Sabha MP, won the Ludhiana West (Punjab) Legislative Assembly by more than 10,500 votes. TMC’s Alifa Ahmed won Kaliganj assembly bypolls (West Bengal) by 49,755 vote margin over BJP rival Ashish Ghosh. Congress’ Kabil Uddin Shaikh came in third position with approximately 28000 votes. The bypoll results in the Visavadar seat (Gujarat) saw AAP’s Gopal Italia winning against BJP’s Kirit Patel with a margin of around 17,500 votes. In Kadi (Gujarat), however, the BJP retained its seat with Rajendrakumar (Rajubhai) Daneshwar Chavda winning with 39,452 votes.

Voter turnout constituencies went to bypolls and why? In Gujarat, the Visavadar seat went to the polls after sitting AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani joined the ruling BJP and recorded 56.89% voter turnout. A bypoll was necessitated in Gujarat’s Kadi after the death of BJP MLA Karshan Solanki and garnered 57.90% turnout. Kerala’s Nilambur registered a 73.26% voter turnout in the bypoll that was triggered by the resignation of CPI(M)-backed Independent legislator P. V. Anvar. West Bengal recorded 69.85% voting percentage in the Kaliganj seat which went for bypolls after the death of TMC leader Nasiruddin Ahmed. Meanwhile, 51.33% voters turned up to vote in Punjab’s Ludhiana West constituency, where bypolls were necessitated after AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi’s death.
