Voters demand
The assembly results show that voters are not interested in a temple or hollow promises. They want development with concrete results, and thereby improve their lot. The issue of corruption, which had assumed national importance, has also been taken seriously by voters. They comprehensively assessed the work of outgoing governments on issues like sadak, pani, bijli, etc ,choosing to punish the inefficient and the corrupt.

Japan remembers
Exactly one year ago,on March 11,2011,the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami hit Japan, causing the loss of a huge number of lives and numerous missing people in the affected areas. Very painful memories and feelings of deep sorrow still remain with the people of Japan.
While I express my sincerest condolences for the victims on this special day,we,the Government and the people of Japan, would once again like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of India for their sincere, kind and warm expressions of sympathy and support offered to us at the time of unprecedented difficulties. We are particularly most thankful to the Government of India for the dispatch of a 46-member team of NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) to assist relief efforts in the tsunami-ravaged regions, and for the supplies of many relief materials,as well as huge cash donations sent by the people of India for the disaster-affected people of Japan. The Japanese people will never forget these gestures of true friendship demonstrated by the Government and people of India.
With the encouragement and solidarity extended by India and the rest of the international community,Japan,re-acknowledging the importance of Kizuna or bonds of friendship with the international society, has been making a steady recovery and reconstruction. Japan will gratefully recompense the favour of the priceless gift of your friendship,as much as possible, through ODA and other means.
In this milestone year which marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and India,we renew our commitment to expand the strategic and global partnership between out two countries and look forward to a new chapter of our friendship and cooperation.

Goodbye,Dravid
Rahul Dravids timely retirement from international cricket has raised his stature as a cricketer when cricketers try to prolong their international careers to the maximum in spite of constant failures. Dravids exit from Test cricket is testing times for the Indian team as he was the backbone of our batting line-up for over a decade-and-a-half. Rightly nicknamed The Wall,Dravid excelled in overseas games and when his team needed his contribution the most. Dravids absence will be felt across the cricketing world. He was a perfect gentleman of the game.
