As Manipur geared up to celebrate its largest tourism festival, miscreants carried out another grenade attack in Imphal targeting security forces.
The attack comes a day after two CRPF jawans were injured in a similar attack near Manipur Legislative Assembly.
The grenade blast occurred around 5:30 pm at Kwakeithel in the state capital by two miscreants who were riding a motorcycle.
Police said that one of the assailants hurled a grenade towards a group of BSF personnel who were on duty in the area. Even as the grenade exploded, no one was injured in the attack, police added.
Manipur is going to kick off its biggest tourism festival on Sunday which will last for seven days. Many domestic and foreign tourists have started flocking Imphal city since the last few days to take part in the festival.
The festival will be officially inaugurated at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal with Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh as the chief guest in the presence of top officials from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos Brunei and Singapore.
