The rides will continue till November 22, for students from different districts.

“The helicopter ride is among the innovative activities taken up by the education department to promote government schools in the state. At the same time, such initiatives also give students a better idea of their home state, as young students are often not fully aware of their surroundings,” said education minister Th Radheshyam Singh.

In the 25-minute ride, the students explored the landscapes and landmarks of Manipur, including Loktak Lake, Keibul Lamjao National Park and Imphal city, among others. They were taken on three separate trips.

“I am very thrilled as this is my first time in a helicopter. It was quite an exciting experience to see people from high above,” said N Micheal, a student of Pettigrew Junior High School.
