Fire broke out at a hosiery factory at Bankra in Howrah district this morning. Since the employees had not reported for work when the fire broke out, no one suffered burns, Fire Brigade sources said.

The fire was first noticed in stacks of hay piled on a plot adjacent to the three-storeyed building, housing the
factory.

Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The extent of loss is yet to be ascertained.
