June 7: Armed robbers looted a jewellery shop at Borivli this morning and escaped with gold worth Rs 4 lakh. This is the fourth such incident in the last seven days.

Police said the incident took place at around 9.30 am, when Ganeshlal Choudhary had just opened his shop Nupur Jewellers in Lakshlabh building on Quarter Road.

Four unidentified persons barged into the premises, whipped out revolvers and threatened Choudhary. They snatched gold and escaped only after locking Choudhary inside the shop, police said.

A few minutes after the incident, when hawkers in the vicinity heard Choudhary’s shouts for help, they lifted the shutter and informed the police.

The Kasturba Marg police, under whose jurisdiction the incident took place, confirmed the robbers escaped with 1 kg of gold valued at around Rs 4 lakh. No arrests have been made so far.
