Sourav Ganguly, recalling days gone by, has rued the absence of wicketkeeper-batsmen like Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Dinesh Kaarthick to help the No 6 batsman get to a hundred.
He said in a television interview that he would have scored more centuries batting lower down, if he had the support of such players. To that extent, he 8220;suffered8221;.
8220;I have batted lower down the order for long, and Rahul Dravid used to bat at number three and Sachin Tendulkar came at four. As a result, I had to bat at five or sometimes six and I missed quite a few hundreds because we did not have a Dhoni or Kaarthick,8221; Ganguly said.
8220;These guys support people batting at five or six. But VVS Laxman and I suffered in terms of getting hundreds,8221; he added.
He said going up the order helped his batting in the just-concluded series. 8220;I got to bat at number four in this series and it helped me,8221; he said.
