AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi made a serious attempt to mingle with party leaders across the political spectrum during the July 21-22 session. He actively participated in discussions his mother had with party leaders on dealing with the Opposition. On July 22 as Rahul started speaking, BSP MPs interrupted and forced an adjournment of proceedings. In the interregnum, a smiling Rahul walked over to BSP leaders and shook hands with them, including with Brajesh Pathak. No wonder, when Rahul resumed his speech after the House reassembled, the BSP benches were comparitively less agitated.
