Yogi Bear marries live action with CGI. Yogi and his sidekick Boo Boo are continually devising new methods to steal food from the tourists. Word about Yogis pilfering gets back to Ranger Smith who reprimands Yogi. Yogi goes back to his cave and Ranger Smith returning to his cabin; but the picnic basket pilfering still continues.

Back in Franklin City,Mayor Brown is planning to sell off Jellystone Park. He rationalises that each resident of Franklin City will make money from the deal. A three-way conflict soon begins with Ranger Smith stuck in the middle. Yogi is disrupting the tourists and the mayor is trying to close Jellystone Park. Rachel, who is filming a nature documentary, soon enters the picture. And Ranger Jones is gunning for the job of top ranger.

Yogi Bear has been around since the 1960s as a picnic basket-stealing bear in Jellystone Park. He had a good run for several years and eventually faded into the background with a few television reboots along the way. Thanks to 3D live-action/ CGI wizardry,Yogi is back on the big screen. In this new Yogi Bear movie,he appears in CGI magnificence yet maintains the familiar look and catchphrases. Dan Akroyd voices Yogi and Justin Timberlake voices Boo Boo.

Yogi Bear is simple yet charming. You can enjoy this action-packed version of an old classic, with its clean humour.

RATING: Two stars for animation and entertainment.
