Beckhams welcome baby girl

London: A spokesman for David Beckham said the soccer stars wife Victoria has given birth to a healthy baby girl. Simon Oliveira said that the couple are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter, who was delivered Sunday morning at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles and weighed in at 7lbs,10oz. The Beckhams,who married in 1999,already have three boys: Brooklyn,11,Romeo,8,and Cruz,5. Oliveira posted the happy news on Twitter Sunday,adding that the Beckhams three sons are excited to welcome their baby sister to the family.

French choreographer Roland Petit dies

Paris: French choreographer and dancer Roland Petit,who helped set up Les Ballets des Champs-Elysees and formed several other dance companies,died Sunday in Geneva at the age of 87,the Paris Opera Ballet said. President Nicolas Sarkozy paid tribute to Petit,whom he called an immense creator who left his mark on the art of dance in the 20th century.
