India’s leading business conglomerates,Videocon,which launched its GSM mobile services in Kerala,will be investing Rs 400 crore in the state.
About Rs 200 crore to Rs 250 crore has already been invsted in the state,Aravind Santhanam,Chief Operating Officer,Tamil Nadu and Kerala,told reporters here.
The services have been started with a network of 1500 BTS at the time of launch,which was expected to touch 2500 by the year end to deliver superior services to subscribers across all major towns,national and state highways and important railway stations in the state,he said.
Announcing its roll out plan,he said Videocon was targetting 100 per cent of the urban population of the state and 70 per cent of the rural population in the coming months.
The brand will have a retail presence in over 15,000 outlets in the state from today and plans to cover 22500 outlets within 6 months,he said.
Unveiling the tariff plans,he said the Rs 399 monthly recharge plan was designed to help subscrbers with a fixed monthly mobile bill for their local calls. Subscribers could make unlimited number of free local calls both on the Videocon network as well as to other service provider networks.
Under the Rs 149 monthly recharge plan,subscribers could make one hour of local calls free everyday which translates to customers getting to make 1800 minutes of free local calls every month. Besides,it was also offering Rs 31 and Rs 61 recharge plans. All the pricing plans are powered by a unlimited one paisa/second call tariff on STD calls to any network across India.
The operator was aiming to reach top 3 in the next three years. Videocon is the 11th mobile service provider in Kerala.
