Viacom 18 announces its releases for 2011-12

Viacom,which recently released 'Tanu Weds Manu',has announced 10-12 movies over the course of next year.

Viacom18 Motion Pictures,a part of the Viacom18 Group),has announced its release slate for 2011. Over the next one year,Viacom18 Motion Pictures plans to release 10-12 movies,nine of which have already been firmed up and are at various stages of development and production.

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures has created strong partnerships with eminent directors like Abbas-Mustan,Anurag Kashyap,David Dhawan and Puri Jagannath and has also brought into its fold talented newcomers like Bijoy Nambiar,Ribhu Dasgupta,Satish Rajawade and Luv Ranjan. Viacom 18 Motion Pictures opens its offerings for this year with a unique rom-com titled Tanu Weds Manu releasing on February 25,2011 followed by two films that are co-productions with Anurag Kashyap – Michael (Working title) and Shaitan. These films are set for release in the first quarter of this fiscal year.

Vikram Malhotra,Chief Operating Officer,Viacom 18 Motion Pictures says,“Our release slate for the next year is a reflection of our direction in the Indian film industry – to establish a significant presence across various spectrums of this business.” He further added,“We have an unparalleled slate for the year 2011-’12,with films that span diverse genres right from rom-coms to action,from thrillers to drama.”

Another new initiative is the launch of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures’ new brand ‘Tipping Point Films’,that will cater to the evolving sensibilities of the urban,Indian youth by offering edgy and engaging film content to this audience segment. The other films from the production house include Pyar Ka Punchnama,Gangs Of Wasseypur,Buddah,Chashme Baddoor and Players. The company will also release projects in the urban-youth genre in co-production with Irock Media.

Cinemax enters Raipur
Cinemax,one of the largest multiplex chains in India,has entered the capital of Chhastisgarh,Raipur. The grand opening was held on February 11. The sprawling five-screen multiplex located at City Centre Mall will have a total capacity of 1055 seats. Having marked its presence in Raipur,Cinemax now has 107 operational screens across the country in 33 locations with a total capacity of 27,839 seats. Speaking about the launch,Sunil Punjabi,CEO Cinemax said,“We are extremely pleased to enhance the entertainment options for the people of Raipur. The movie-loving audiences will enjoy our cutting-edge technology and world-class facilities.”

PVR launches entertainment credit card
PVR and Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited have launched a one-of-its kind ‘entertainment credit card’ for cinegoers. Movie enthusiasts will be able to draw a more significant and appealing value from their everyday spends by availing free PVR tickets every month through the PVR Kotak Credit Card. Pramod Arora,Group President and CEO,PVR Ltd. said,“The innovative Entertainment Credit Card is targeted at our premium customer base to give that extra value add and a delightful PVR experience on their spends. We are expecting a very positive response.”

PVR Kotak customers earn up to two free movie tickets on spends of Rs 7500 and can earn a bonus free movie ticket when an user spends Rs 750 in a month at PVR cinemas adding to his value proposition. The uniquely positioned Entertainment Card offers a three-month EMI benefit across any purchases above Rs 5000 at no interest and no processing fee. The credit card will be available in two variants of Platinum and Gold. Besides availing free tickets,customers can also avail exciting offers through the card while dining,travelling or shopping.

Reliance MediaWorks releases Q3 results
Reliance MediaWorks Ltd.,India’s fastest growing film and entertainment services company and a member of the Reliance ADA group today announced its third quarter results for FY 2010-11. The key financial highlight is the Q3 of FY 2010-11 for tincome from operations stood at Rs 242 crore even as EBIDTA from Operations rose to Rs 31 crore. The exhibition division’s revenues stood at Rs 172 crore while the fand media services division was recorded at Rs 60 crore. The television production division contributed to revenues of Rs 24 crore. The company also completed its investment phase. As a result of the continued investments and stabilisation of business verticals,the interest and depreciation charge,the company recorded a net loss of Rs 57 crore. “Reliance MediaWorks’ both topline and EBIDTA has increased by 39 per cent and 30 per cent respectively compared to the corresponding nine-month period in the previous year,reflecting strong returns on investmentsfrom the asset base created in past two years. the recent commissioning of its studio and BPO facility we will see further traction and expect the film and media services division to be a substantial contributor to our business portfolio,” said Anil Arjun,CEO,Reliance MediaWorks Ltd.
